‘WIN A LIFE – 2020’ WITH MAGSONS!

Good news for Magsons’ shoppers! Magsons’ one and only promotion of Win A Life—2020’ is coming to a draw and 20 winners will go home with exciting prizes. One of the winners wins a long term bonanza of free goodies for an entire family of four. The promotion commenced in November last year and ends January 31, 2020. During this period customers were entitled to aWin A Life’ coupon which they received for every purchase of Rs1,500 – and so far Magsons have handed out nearly 25,000 coupons to their customers across all its stores in Goa.
The promise for Win A Life winner No.1 covers all aspects of roti, kapda and makaan (subject to limitations) for a full year and this includes monthly groceries of staples like rice, atta, fruit and vegetables, fish, eggs, masala, breakfast cereals, milk, cereals, pulses, etc; clothing by way of quarterly vouchers for apparel; household and personal care requirements; footwear vouchers; dining out vouchers, movie/entertainment tickets, household utility bills for pest control, medicines, fitness club membership for two, and last but not least of one annual holiday package for family of four for 3N4D, with train tickets.
Through the months Magsons have been drawing lucky winners across its stores in Taleigao, Hymart, In&Out, Status, Varca, Zuari, Ponda and Mercado and they will form the core 20 participants for the Grand Lucky Prize. The first draw was conducted on Air with Indigo FM91.9 and subsequently every store had a customer pick the lucky winner.
The final batch of 9 winners will be pulled out in a draw scheduled for Sunday, February 2, 2020, at the Atrium of Caculo Mall at 6pm. Participants and members of the public are invited to witness the draw. The 20 final winners of `Win A Life’ will come together on Friday, February 14, 2020 (Valentine’s Day!) at Umiya Mercado at a glittering awards ceremony to celebrate the grand prize winner as also winners of exciting 19 consolation prizes.

‘Beyond the Horizon’: An exhibition of the recent works of artist, activist and writer Clarice Vaz. The exhibition has been curated by Lina Vincent and there are over 40 artworks on display, sales proceeds go to Xavier Centre as also Goa Heritage Action group. Republic Day Indian Classical Music Concert: The Kala Academy is hosting a musical program featuring Usad Abdul Salam Naushad on clarinet while Stree Taal Group of Panchakanya’s will be presenting Carnatic instrumental music. Naushad is one of the fee exponents of clarinet in the country and he plays this Western music instrument in Hindustani classical style, he is also performing for the first time in Goa. Musicians in the Stree Taal Group include Sukanya Ramgopal (ghatam, ghatatarang and konnakul), Soumya Ramachandran (violin), YG Srilath (Carnatic veena), Lakshmi Pillai (mrudangam) and Bhagalakshmi M Kirishna (morching). Street Play Competition on Mhadei: Uzwaad (Rays of Hope) is organizing an All Goa street play competition to build a platform for youth to speak up about everything that is going wrong with the state of Goa! To begin with here’s a street play competition on river Mhadei which is the lifeline of Goa’s riverine ecology. Venue: Kala Academy, Panaji. Date: Sunday/Jan26. Time: 9.30am onwards.

6th Young Chef Olympiad: All eyes are on this biggest culinary competition of the world taking place for the first time in Goa. It features young student chef participants from ten countries and is being hosted by the International Institute of Hotel Management which has 10 institutes at large in India and abroad. YCO has `Sustainability’ as its theme this year and India’s participant is going to be Varun Tej Reddy from IIHM Hyderabad. The competing chefs and their presentations vie for eight awards ranging from YCO 2020 winner to 1st and 2nd runner-up, plate trophy, best vegetarian dish, best dessert, best hygienic practice and rising star award. Sounds exciting! Venue: IIHM campus, Nuvem. Date: Jan30. Time: 8am. Note: The event is not open to the public but you may find out more details from the IIHM office. Grand opening ceremony is at 8am but first round of competition begins 9am with the competitors having a time limit of one hour. The dishes will be judged blindly without indication of country or contestant name. Second round scheduled on Jan 31, same rules. Contestants will go to Kolkata to participate in the final round on Feb1 and winners announcement takes place at closing ceremony on Feb2. Kolkata is where IIHM’s International Young Chef Olympiad started.
