Large numbers of girls from the North-East are being trafficked to Goa to work in massage parlours and in Night Clubs and Casinos where they are forced to offer sexual favours.

  1. Where NE girls are being trafficked
    States of origin:
    • Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh
    • Especially districts with poor employment: Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Nagaon, Kokrajhar, Tinsukia, and parts of Manipur (border areas).

Destination hubs:
• Goa
• Delhi NCR
• Mumbai / Pune
• Bengaluru
• Dubai & Gulf (via Delhi recruiters)
• Nepal border towns (transit)
Traffickers use “job offers in hospitality, salons, spas, call centres” as the lure.

  1. Why NE girls are targeted
    • Fair/light complexion marketed by traffickers as “exotic” for spa/massage rackets.

    • Language barriers — easier for traffickers to control.
