LETTER TO THE EDITOR FOR ISSUE DATED SEPTEMBER 13, 2025
Letters To The Editor, Sep 13- Sep 19, 2025 September 12, 2025GOVERNMENT SHOULD ADAPT DIGITAL KYC SYSTEM INSTEAD OF LIFE CERTIFICATE
IN order to streamline the process of Digital KYC, the government should exercise now easy and quick methods so that all public get an accessible mobile number linked to Aadhaar! There should be no need for the public to step out their homes anymore for KYC process. This will be a completely integrated digital KYC journey for the general public. At least 80% public will able to operate KYC directly without hassles with original Aadhaar and PAN card handy. Keeping mobile phone linked with Aadhaar database handy to receive and validate OTP and enable camera, location and microphone on laptop/desktop/smart phone before starting digital KYC process.
The public should ensure stable internet connection and mobile network, for selfie and video verification — avoid shadows on face or anything blocking face view, no hats, no dark lenses, or anything that obscures the face to avoid blurry pictures.
The public could complete Aadhaar e-KYC online using registered mobile number for an OTP or via Aadhaar Paperless Offline e-KYC. Many institutions, such as banks and financial firms, integrate with the UIDAI’s online e-KYC service to allow users to verify their identity electronically by providing their Aadhaar number and entering the OTP sent to their registered mobile. Now, all the government departments should follow online e-KYC system, rather than calling people in government offices, or government officials must visit public houses to complete KYC or verification to execute various schemes.
Why? Because government is for the people, of the people, by the people. KYC means Know Your Customers. For government this system should be KYP, Know Your People !!!

KUDOS ON ONLINE GAMBLING BAN
Dear Mr Ashwini Vaishnaw,
I must congratulate you on your work to strengthen national security. China’s hand in laundering billions of dollars through online casinos undermines a nation’s economic sovereignty, and Australia learnt this humiliating lesson the hard way.
As a son of Goa I’ve been following news on casinos and crimes diligently for years, as I know local governments have been utterly corrupt and will NEVER be able to control a sin industry as volatile as gambling, aka a generational calamity.
A Google search on the latest update of the online gambling ban today revealed an opinion piece by lawyers that I would like you to take note of.
The article suggests a more nuanced approach that reins in online gambling, strengthens national security and doesn’t alienate scrupulous international investors.
As an opponent of gambling I was dead against all its forms until Thailand tried to legalize gambling. I followed the news diligently and was stunned to learn about Spectrum Gaming — the consultant that manages Singapore’s gambling authority’s duties. It also handles the responsibilities of 44 countries across six continents.
Gambling revenue should be considered intergenerational equity and fiercely protected as such. In well regulated gambling hubs, profits are independently funnelled into education, social security and community up-liftment initiatives. As Goa and Sikkim are the only two states with legalized casinos, I firmly believe the Indian government should hire Spectrum as a consultant ASAP.
Goa is a notorious narco-tourism destination and Sikkim is near the LOC — both are weak links in India’s national security chain. Until now, influential politically exposed persons ensured gambling regulations were watered down, hopefully this will change after the arrest of the Karnataka Congress MLA on money laundering charges.
Until the Supreme Court resolves the online gambling issue, please consider hiring Spectrum as a consultant. I’ve added the link showing the impressive list of their clients. I have reason to believe that Goa is at the heart of a State-sponsored money laundering plus drug logistics hub, similar to how Turkish hardliner president Recep Erdogan exploited casinos in the annexed region of northern Cyprus. Goa is currently relegated to the telegraph spectrum of tech, while ISRO has the funds to explore the universe with quantum computing.
Litigation in India tends to drag on, which serves foreign interests. Their local corrupt partners might speed up their illicit real estate dealings to make hay while the sun shines.
Regards,
