SADHVI BEAUTY QUEEN RETURNS

SADHVI Sail, who represented Goa in the Miss Femina India Contest in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa and won the first place, has returned to Goa after the contest on April 30. The Sail family based in Vasco da Gama took out a front page advertisement inviting fans to greet her at the airport. In Goan tradition there was a grand procession from the Sai Baba temple at the Vasco taxi-stand to the Damodar temple also in port town. This is characteristic of Goa where gods are thanked for every achievement. Sadhvi is Konkani-speaking and was born in Goa although educated in Karwar. In Adityanath’s Uttar Pradesh “sadhvi” refers to women saints. Only in Goa a Sadhvi can become a beauty queen.

CM FOR INTEGRATION OF TRADITIONAL SYSTEMS OF MEDICINE
Chief Minister of Goa Dr Pramod Sawant is all for structured, scientific integration of traditional systems of medicine with modern healthcare frameworks. He was speaking as the guest of honour for the valedictory function of the 3rd edition of the International Ayush Conference & Exhibition at UAE which took place on February 18, 2026. Dr Sawant stressed that preventive healthcare must become foundational rather than supplementary, shifting global health systems from reactive treatment models to proactive wellness-oriented approaches.
Dr Sawant maintained that Dubai, as a global hub of innovation, commerce, and cultural convergence, has just not provided the perfect platform for this dialogue for three days, but also sent a powerful global affirmation that traditional systems of medicine have an essential role in shaping the future of healthcare. The depth of scientific discussions, the quality of research presentations, the policy deliberations, and the cross-border collaborations that have emerged here reflect the growing international confidence in AYUSH systems, he pointed.
Goa’s chief minister stated that the future of global healthcare lies in convergence — where traditional wisdom and modern medical science complement each other to provide safe, affordable, and sustainable healthcare solutions. He said collaboration across nations must replace isolated efforts, as shared knowledge, joint research, regulatory harmonisation, and institutional partnerships are key to building resilient health systems.
This global gathering demonstrates that AYUSH is no longer viewed merely as heritage, but is increasingly recognised as a viable and evidence-based component of modern healthcare systems. All this happening under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. AYUSH has gained unprecedented global recognition from the internationalisation of Yoga to the institutional strengthening of Ayurveda and other traditional systems. India has consciously positioned integrative healthcare as a key pillar of its global health diplomacy and the growing international participation at the conference is a testament to that transformative vision.
Reaffirming Goa’s commitment to holistic health and wellness, Dr Pramod Sawant noted that Goa continues to align its healthcare and tourism strategies with the broader vision of promoting integrative medicine, wellness tourism, and sustainable health practices. The chief minister on his arrival was welcomed with a traditional Kunbi shawl by Dipak Bandekar Director, DIP.
While going around the Goa stall at the exhibition the CM evinced keen interest in the display and complimented the department for the stall’s eco-friendly designing which stood out at the event. Other delegation members comprised of Allwyn X Pereira (Information Officer), Dr Minal Joshi (Dy Director-AYUSH, Dte of Health) and Dr Sameer Sadekar (Sr Ayurvedic physician, NGDH, Asilo Hospital, Mapusa), as also Dr Dipali Shirwaikar and Dr Shambhavi Gadgil (key stakeholders in the field of Ayurvedic medicines).
