LETTER TO THE EDITOR FOR ISSUE DATED AUGUST 09, 2025
Aug 09-Aug 15, 2025, Letters To The Editor August 8, 2025PRESIDENT TRUMP REPOSTS FAKE VIDEO
REPORTEDLY, on July 20 a fake video showed the former president, Barack Obama, being arrested in the Oval Office. President Trump’s administrative officials accused Obama of trying to harm the 2016 campaign of Trump for presidentship. The short video, perhaps created using AI, was posted on TikTok and later reposted by President Trump on his Truth Social account.
Was it to divert people’s focus on the Epstein files and intelligence reports that Russia had favored Trump’s election?
The manipulated video is an actual meeting between Obama and Trump after the latter had defeated Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. The video depicts FBI agents rushing into the room, pushing Obama onto his knees and handcuffing him. Trump smiles while the song, “Y.M.C.A.” by the Village People plays in the background. The video also shows Obama wearing an orange jumpsuit and pacing in a cell.
It is shocking that the leader of the most powerful country apparently resorted to such an act, knowing fully well that the video was a “genuine fake.” The President may have his prerogative but hope he gets a Presidential pardon for his deed! If this is the way social media works, then envision as to how much untruths, falsehoods, wild imagination and misinformation, is being spread by millions of people either knowingly or unknowingly. Obviously, videos and messages that instigate lead to strife, misunderstanding and social unrest, in an already complicated and divided world.

FRIENDSHIP IS OUR ONLY STRENGTH
AUGUST 3 we observed happy Friendship Day! Was it yet another annual cosmetic ritual? In fact every day needs to be a friendship day. When our innings in this world ends, we will not be judged by the wealth and property we have amassed, but by our acts and deeds, that is why we are encouraged to do good works.
I have been enormously blessed with an armoury of outstanding friends worldwide. Even our detractors should not be considered our foes as they could awaken us when we err. True friends may sometimes be hard to find because they are rare and one of a kind. They lift you up when no one else has even noticed that you were down.
Making friends is great but keeping in touch with these soulmates is a bigger challenge. Within our time constraints and with the help of social media, we must endeavour to keep in touch with them because we must care for every friend, and even more be also concerned for those on the other page.
Cultivating friendship may be an easy task but harnessing that bonding and making sure it endures is a bigger challenge. Friendship isn’t always about whom you’ve known the longest. It is about who walked into your life and said, “I am here for you” and proved it. A friend in need is truly a friend indeed. While identifying and nurturing friends, age or social strata should never be a hindrance. It is their experience and wealth of knowledge that helps and guides us.
We live in a tough world where no man is an island. We are dependent on each other and reliant on true friendship to enhance our trust, peace, harmony and co-operation to safely co-exist with each other.

DOGS’ NGO ARRIVES IN ARPORA
FINALLY, a dogs NGO has arrived in Arpora. I thank the NGO wholeheartedly. For the last four-five days, the NGO has been trying to catch stray dogs. The dogs run away on seeing them. So I asked them for their mobile number. My intention was to inform them when the dogs are sleeping around my home. But the NGO people are not ready to give their mobile numbers.
Anyway, it is a good thing that they are trying catch them to sterilize. Whether it is the voice about dogs in the assembly or the result of the letters I have written, it is important to take cognizance. Sterilization of stray dogs is very important to avoid their population.
Many non-governmental organizations in Goa work for stray dogs, rescue them, provide shelter and help in adoption. Also, they are active in activities like animal birth control programs and vaccination. There are NGOs in Bardez taluka too, which work for stray dogs. They provide rescue work, medical care and shelter.
“Voice of the Street Dog” is the largest non-profit organization in India that works for stray dogs. They have a large sanctuary and hospital where dogs are admitted, it is said. The organization would be welcome in Goa.
Many NGOs and local administrations run sterilization programs to control the population of stray dogs. This includes sterilization and vaccination of dogs. There are other small NGOs or animal welfare organizations in Goa that are working for stray dogs. Their contacts should be registered with the local panchayat. People can visit many NGO websites or call them to get information about their work and admission of dogs, but, you do not get any answer.
There are many local veterinarians. How to catch stray dogs? Local veterinarians provide the best service. Many animal lovers and NGOs are active on social media, we can also get information from them, but, it is neglected. NGOs should be in touch with the people. There are not many stray dogs in Goa, but if control is maintained from time to time, stray dogs will be controlled. So, I request all NGOs to be active.
The work done by NGOs, especially animal NGOs, is very much laudable. I wrote a letter to the Animal Husbandry Department. I also wrote a letter to the Chief Minister’s Office. The Chief Minister sent his letter to the Animal Husbandry Department. The Animal Husbandry Department sent its letter to an NGO. It was too late to take notice. Now that the assembly is in session, the issue of stray dogs has come up for discussion. This has been good. In the end, credit goes to the government and the opposition as well. But eradicate stray dogs in Goa and that’s it.
