SPECIAL ATTENTION FOR WELFARE OF HEARING IMPAIRED – CM PRAMOD SAWANT

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that government will pay special attention for the betterment of hearing impaired people in the State. Speaking as chief guest after inaugurating a 4-day International Deaf Summit 2020 organized by Deaf Can Foundation, Bhopal, at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on January 2, 2020.
The CM elaborated that the government is endeavoring to provide adequate facilities to the special schools in the State. The function was attended by the Leader of Opposition Digamber Kamat, Working Chairman (Law and Enforcement), IHRA-India Dr (Adv) G. Gopi Krishna, Patron, International Deaf Summit and Chairman for IHRA, Goa State Navnath Khandeparkar, Senior Manager- Finance and Legal CBM India Trust, Banglore Rajani Gopalkrishna, Sign language consultant and associate director for Bollywood film Sangeeta Gala, Founder and CEO of India Signing Hands Alok Kejriwal, Founder UK Deaf motivator, RKDA, Londan Dayal Gauranga Das , Founder for Universal Sanatana Dharma, Chennai, Ananatadevji and general manager for IPSHEM Training Center, ONGC, Betul, Sanjay Kumar.
Speaking further the CM complemented the organisers for an event of such magnitude in Goa and with participation of deaf persons from India and abroad. He also appreciated the efforts put in for holding other events such as India Deaf Expo and film festival for the differently challenged.
He also referred to the demand raised by the organizers which include pre-university and higher education for special children and hearing impaired people and assured to consider the demand. Problems of deaf persons deal with matters related to technology and education, language and speech development, social and cultural aspects of deafness, rehabilitation and employment, human rights and community-based rehabilitation, empowerment and women.
