EXCELLENT correspondent Andrea Fernandes who has  a very good track record has been abruptly sacked by the `Herald’ management. The young lady has decided to fight and take the matter to the industrial tribunal. Editor Alexandra Barbosa is reported to have claimed that he was not happy with her performance. There are several instances of such mala fide sacking of `Herald’ employees where the son of a former PA of  Managing Director Raul Fernandes plays the tune.

THE Directorate of Film Festivals has announced registration for delegates for the 52nd International Film Festival of India from Monday, September 13, 2021. Offline registration has already opened from September 6. As in the case of last year the festival will be in hybrid format. There will be a special retrospective on the films of Satayajit Ray to mark his 100th or centenary birth anniversary.

TOURIST taxis are to be supplied with free digital meters, according to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. However, only those who have a domicile certificate of 15 years of living in the State will be eligible. Further all taxi drivers will be expected to wear badges. Non-Goan drivers will not be allowed to work for private tourist taxis or Goa Miles cabs. The data entry in the free digital cabs will also be completely free.

AN illegal call centre at Morjim has defrauded thousands of US citizens. The accused would pose as a US law enforcement authority and seek payments from defaulting US citizens. US citizens were made to pay through vouchers, which were converted into crypto currency by the accused and then withdrawn from Ahmedabad as Indian currency. Crypto currency refers to virtual currency like Bitcoins which can be easily traded in the international market.
