LOTTERY KING SANTIAGO FAMILY WINS THREE SEATS IN TAMIL NADU!

AND a few stray thoughts for yet another Saturday. For a Saturday following the week when the demonization of Mamata-didi in West Bengal continued. For a Saturday following the week when money power ruled in the recently concluded assembly elections. For a Saturday following the week For a Saturday following the week when we saw a quick bail granted to Gautam Khattar. For a Saturday following the week when Goa seems to have become the new Nigeria.
AND a few stray thoughts on the demonization of chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata-didi, continued. Apparently, the BJP is not content that it scored a double century in the West Bengal elections. They seem to be determined to obliterate the memory of Mamata-didi if not Mamata-didi herself politically. Now the BJP claims that Mamata-didi was castiest. They claim that she had no love for the Muslims but only used them as a vote bank. The BJP token Muslim leader, Asaduddin Owasi, has joined the chorus and is even insisting that the BJP has no respect for Muslim leaders. Mamata historically nurtured the Muslim vote bank. The majority of voters who were removed from the voters’ list during SIR are Muslim voters. The BJP and the Election Commission of India of course insist that both the Muslims in West Bengal and in Assam are illegal migrants from Bangladesh. Mamata is being projected as an enemy of the Hindus also on the claim that she shut down the Durga temple at Asansol.
Mind you, none of these claims are collaborated by the print media. These are all the delusions of the Adana-Ambani-controlled electronic media. And of course Arnab Goswami’s Republic and Rajat Sharma’s India TV. I do not see any validation of all the preposterous charges against Mamata in the Times of India or any of the leading dailies in the country. What seems to have been established is that the margin of victory of the BJP in West Bengal is equivalent or more than the number of voters disenfranchised by the Election Commission of India.
Mamata is not the only one who is part of the hate narrative. Rahul Gandhi is being portrayed in social media as the patron of illegal Bangladeshi migrants. The loss of Stalin and the defeat of the DMK in Tamil Nadu is being attributed to his comments against the Sanatanis. Stalin has repeatedly called for a ban on all Sanatan institutions. The attack on Joseph Vijay has started. Videos have started appearing on social media calling him a Muslim lover. A person who has been appeasing the Muslim community based on his visits to dargahs. Never mind that Joseph Vijay has been visiting temples and churches also.

MONEY POWER
AND a few stray thoughts on money power in the recently concluded assembly elections. Among the big winners in Tamil Nadu is the family of the lottery king Santiago Martin. Martin has the biggest lottery empire in the country, both offline and online. Martin was the biggest contributor to the BJP electoral bonds. Martin’s wife contested on the DMK ticket. His son-in-law contested on the TVK ticket. His brother floated his own party and contested the Tamil Nadu elections. All three of them declared assets of an average of Rs500 crore plus. All three of them, representing different parties, won their assembly seats. Joseph Vijay, of course is not poor either. Joseph Vijay, while filing his nomination, revealed that his total assets exceeded Rs800 crore. This is not particularly surprising as he has been amongst the highest film stars, reportedly averaging Rs200 crore per film. Vijay’s parents the SA Chandrashekar and Sobha Chandrashekar, are also part of the film industry. The Chennai house or palace of the family is estimated to cost Rs200 crore. Vijay, however, has been claiming at all his public meetings that all his money belongs to the people. He is willing to spend it all on public welfare. In terms of freebies to his women admirers, Vijay promised one tola of gold as part of the streedhan to every Tamil girl who gets married. Vijay has also promised free education right up to the degree level and subsidized technical education.
In Goa, we have the example of the late Anil Salgaokar, who literally bought the Sangolda legislative assembly seat, which he contested twice. Anil Salgaokar is reported to have spent over the Rs100cr on each election. Anil built flats, gifted trucks and other major goodies to win the elections by a huge margin. The other big spenders in Goan elections are Atanasio Babush Monserrate, Rohan Khaunte and Mauvin Godinho. The first generation Lobos of Delilah and Michael have overtaken all and declared joint wealth of over Rs2,000 crores.

KHATTAR QUICK BAIL
AND a few stray thoughts on the quick bail granted to Gautam Khattar. Clearly it was an act of match fixing. The police arrested him on weak charges which were bailable offenses. Right from the time Khattar was bought to Goa his body language was defiant. Khattar was remanded to a week’s police custody, was offered fruit, because he claimed that he was in a sattvik diet. His lawyers from outside Goa first got his 18-year-old younger brother released on bail. Khattar was granted bail on a surety of Rs 30,000 along with two other sureties. Khattar was allowed to leave the state immediately even though he has told he couldn’t leave the country. Immediately upon his release, Gautam Khattar went to Belgavi, where he was felicitated.
The counter-narrative started when Girish Chodankar, among others, asked for a ban on all Sanatani Hindutva fanatics. Promptly, the local hardcore “Hindutva Times” decided to file complaints of disturbing communal harmony against Congress leaders. Mercifully, Girish Chodankar has not been arrested. The police which stopped the SFX protest at Azad Maidan, permitted the Hindutva brigade to hold the massive protest in the Azad Maidan.

GOA VERSUS NIGERIA
AND a last stray thought on how Goa has become the new Nigeria. Historically, Nigeria has been the capital of cyber scams. Every street in Nigeria has a cyber café. For years, Nigerian young men used to send emails all over the world claiming that they have inherited a large sum of money and wanted their help to transfer it out of the country. In the recent past, the Goa police busted more than a dozen call centers operating from Goa. They all have been charged with cheating American citizens with get rich quick schemes. Some of them also have been offering jobs not only in big but even in government departments. The latest call centre to be busted was in St Inez, the con centre was operating from couple of flats.
