MAPUSA CIVIL COURT JUNCTION TO BUS STAND ONE WAY LANE BE PLANNED!
Converting the Karaswada junction to Mapusa bus stand route into a one-way lane could help reduce frequent traffic bottlenecks, but authorities have not officially implemented or announced this specific change yet. But planning is badly needed, as the Route is existing since Portuguese era. Atleast from Civil Court junction to Mapusa bus stand one way should be planned to ease traffic.
Of course there are Traffic Challenges on the Route for facing Heavy Congestion and projecting planning. The Karaswada junction and approaches to the Mapusa Bus Stand experience severe rush-hour gridlocks due to converging regional and local buses. However, one way traffic diversion is need of the time.
If we consider Potential Benefits, a one-way system might streamline heavy public transport movement and lower intersection conflicts.
Currently, Local traffic police periodically adjust signal timings and diversion rules rather than declaring a permanent one-way corridor on this primary stretch. But government should come to solution of one way traffic diversion management anyhow. Many accidents occurred on such zig zag sloppy road in past.

GCCI DELEGATION MEETS CHIEF MINISTER PRAMOD SAWANT ON PEAK-HOUR POWER SHEDDING AFFECTING INDUSTRIES—–A delegation of the Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) comprising President Ms Pratima Dhond, Dr Sangam Kurade and Director General Mr Sanjay Amonkar met the Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today and submitted a representation seeking urgent intervention to address power shedding affecting industries in Goa during peak hours. GCCI informed the Chief Minister that industries have been facing load shedding of 50% to 100% during peak hours, particularly between 5.00 p.m. to 1.00 a.m., since 4th September 2026. As per the Chief Electrical Engineer, the State is facing a shortfall of approx. 80 MW during peak hours due to lower generation from hydel/wind projects and coal shortage affecting thermal generation nationally. The delegation highlighted that this is severely impacting continuous-process industries, leading to production losses, quality rejections, equipment damage, increased costs, and environmental issues due to DG set usage. GCCI had earlier met the Chief Electrical Engineer, Stephen Fernandes, on 23rd September 2026 along with 25 industry representatives. The CEE had indicated that additional power could be procured at approx. Rs10 per unit for October-December 2026, against the existing peak-hour tariff of Rs6.80 per unit. GCCI has requested the Government to absorb this additional burden and supply power at existing tariff to keep operations viable. GCCI proposed: (1) ensuring adequate peak-hour power, (2) supplying additional power at existing tariff, (3) promoting rooftop solar with Battery Energy Storage with JERC cap removal of 500 kWp, (4) facilitating Open Access / green power procurement, and (5) constituting an industry-Government coordination group with advance information on restrictions. The Chief Minister held a discussion with the Chief Electrical Engineer and directed that meetings be held with industry immediately. Accordingly, a meeting is scheduled on Saturday, 3rd October 2026. The Hon’ble Chief Minister has assured the delegation that a solution will be arrived at by early next week.
