LETTER TO THE EDITOR FOR THE ISSUE DATED OCTOBER 17, 2026
Letters To The Editor, Oct 17- Oct 23, 2026 October 16, 2026DEMOCRACY AND THE RULE OF LAW FOR A BETTER WORLD!
In an ideal world, the welfare of any country and its people can only be enhanced and optimised, if the elected representatives at all levels are knowledgeable, public service oriented and apply their time and talent for the common good. he entire bureaucracy to support the elected representatives must be selected strictly on merit and must function independently, free from political manipulation or pressure.
Besides, the very crucial Judiciary, that serves as the guardian of justice and the rule of law by protecting individual’s rights and upholding the Constitution must be able to fairly and fearlessly, aptly and promptly balance the scales of Justice.
But a quick look around the world shows that the ground reality in developed and developing countries is far from ideal. Corruption, nepotism and daylight crime is there for all to see. Holding of free and fair elections is Sacrosanct. What we witnessed in Russia recently was a mockery of stage-managed Parliamentary elections.
Despite all not being well, we need to look forward positively to a better world which will be fair to all with the Rule of law prevailing at all levels of Governance. A world where there is hope for the poor, deprived and vulnerable. All this will be a reality when all those in Power and Authority are accountable to the Rule of law and the people at large who democratically elect them to high office in good faith to represent their best interests. Transparency increases that credibility and accountability.

IS GOVERNMENT AT YOUR DOORSTEP?
Government at your doorstep” in Goa refers to initiatives like the Sarkar Tumchya Dari camps and the Gramin Mitra service designed to bring public administration directly to citizens. CM Pramod Sawant is efforting his best to serve Goa. But what’s happening and shortcomings?
It said that Periodic public camps where senior government officials and department representatives visit local constituencies and villages to address grievances, clear pending files, and issue welfare benefits on the spot.
Gramin Mitra Seva never notice in my village. It is said to be A digital delivery initiative run through Common Service Centers (CSCs) where residents can call the toll-free number 14471 to have a local village representative assist with online government services right from their home. How people are aware of this procedure?
Propoganda is Applications and processing for schemes like the Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DDSSY), Griha Aadhar, and the Ujjwala Yojana LPG scheme. A women applied through CM helpline, but matter was closed without benefit regarding ujjwala scheme.
When we say Assistance is being given to solve Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, ration cards, and residency or income certificates. Now, one common man is struggling for ration card E kyc, nobody is helping him. Why?
Utility and Land Issues can be solved out? Our CM Pramod Sawant is trying to sort out every problem by resolving water/electricity connection requests, land partition, and mutation matters. But who is failure in this field? One’s electricity connection is pending for one month for various reasons. One applicant wrote public grievances department to maintain his grand father in 1/14 forms in partition cases
