Dekhava & Matoli Competition Results

ChOvOth is coming to a close. The Director of Art & Culture has declared the results of the State Level Dekhava & Matoli Competition 2019.
First prize 25,000 goes to Charasta Sarvjanik Ganeshutsav Mandal, Canacona; Second prize20,000 goes to Brameshwar Yuvak Sangh, Akhada, St Estevam; third prize 5,000 goes to Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Tudal, Netravali. Five consolation prizes7,000 each go to Goa Reserve Police, Altinho, Panaji; Shree Shantadurga Mahadev Pratishthan Ganeshotsav Mandal, Kavlem, Ponda; Beticha Vighnharta, Malim, Betim; Yuva Mala, Panaji; and Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Casarvarnem, Pernem. Judges were Eknath K Mahale, Deepak Gad and Naguesh R Sardesai.
Matoli Competition winners are: First prize 15,000 to Data S Naik (Gauthan Wada, Priol, Ponda); second prize10,000 to Shrikant Pandhari Satarkar (Rait, Curti, Ponda); third prize 7,500 to Vishant Vasant Gaude (Kelbai, Curti, Ponda). Five consolation prizes5,000 go Gajanan Bandekar (Talule, Bandora, Ponda), Ranganath D Gaonkar (Gotha Wada, Betoda, Ponda), Deepak D Gaonkar (Satre, Sattari) and Ranganath G Gaonkar (Mayem, Bicholim). Judges were Rajendra P Kerkar, Sudesh G Vaze and Kanta Gaude. A special awards presentation function will be announced shortly.

TALKS
Sustainable Planet: If you care about planet earth and want to switch over to a more sustainable lifestyle, learn how by attending this talk by Sunil Shetye of Government Polytechnic, he will be talking on the subject of protection of the ozone layer. The talk is hosted by The Indian Society of Heating Refrigerating & Air Conditioning Engineers. Entry is free for all. Venue: International Centre Goa, Dona Paula, Panaji. Date: Monday, Sept 16. FILMS
William Wyler Film Festival: The Films for Thought Club of the Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts has organized a festival of films directed by Hollywood legend William Wyler. Entry is on a first come first serve basis. Venue: Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts, Altinho, Panaji. Date: Ongoing till Sept 18. Time: On Sept 17 see Dodsworth’ (1936) starring Walter Huston and Mary Astor at 5.30pm, followed byThe Little Foxes’ (1941) starring Bette Davis and Teresa Wright at 7.30pm; on Sept 18 see `The Best Years of our Lives’ (1946) starring Frederic March, Teresa Wright, Dana Andrews, Myrna Loy and Harold Rusell at 6.15pm.

Quiz
‘Lights, Camera, Question’: The Sunday Evening Quiz Club (SEQC), in association with the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), will be hosting ‘Lights, Camera, Question’, a quiz on the magic of movies. The quiz will be replete with visual, audio and video content, and will cover all aspects of cinema, Indian and international. It will be conducted by Aniruddha Sen Gupta, a renowned quizzer and BBC Master Mind finalist. The quiz will commence with a written preliminary round at 3 pm, followed by onstage finals. The Prelims will be taken individually, and the top 18 put together in teams of 3. The quiz is open to all, and entry is free. Audience participation is welcome!
